These terms and conditions, in conjunction with our website's terms of use, privacy policy, and security policy, constitute the agreement between you, the renter, and 'Lesvos Car Hire' for the services related to car hire. Together, these components are collectively referred to as our terms. All contracts for our services are subject to these terms, and they supersede any other terms and conditions. Conduct by 'Lesvos Car Hire' shall not imply acceptance of any other terms. Your acceptance of our services or signature on any agreement serves as conclusive evidence of your acceptance of these terms.

'Lesvos Car Hire' reserves the right to modify these terms without notice, and renters are advised to regularly check the website for any updates that may apply to them. We will provide you with a vehicle either directly or as an agent, depending on our relationship with the car hire company. These terms are applicable to any booking made by you, the renter, on or through this website, and it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with their contents.

Both our terms and conditions and those of our local providers include certain exclusions and limitations of liability. Your booking on this website is contingent upon your acceptance of our terms. If you, the renter, disagree with any part of these terms, you must not proceed with your booking. By confirming your intention to book a vehicle through this website, you, the renter, affirm that you have read, comprehended, and accepted the relevant terms. What is included in your rental?

Your rental includes vehicle rental, third-party insurance, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with an excess of €700 all groups except minibus €1000, Personal Accident Insurance up to €15,000, and unlimited kilometres. VAT, Road Tax, airport charges, and delivery & collection service. A 24-hour helpline is also included. +30 6970673954.

What is required for vehicle pickup?

Upon vehicle collection, ensure you have a valid credit card, identification (ID card or passport), and driver's license. Your credit card must possess sufficient funds to secure the deposit, the amount of which varies based on rental cost, vehicle model, category, and selected insurance options. Additionally, the credit card may incur charges for any additional expenses arising throughout the rental duration.

Terms of Payment

For authorization, only MasterCard and Visa Credit cards are accepted; prepaid and electron cards, including Visa Electron and Maestro, are excluded. The credit card used must belong to the person renting the vehicle. Rental fees can be settled using a credit card, prepaid or electron cards, and cash. Please note, credit card payments might necessitate entering your PIN.

Local Deposits

A deposit of min. €250 - max.€1000 may be collected at the start of the rental to cover refuelling, liability excess, and all other uninsured items. The deposit, minus any applicable charges, is refunded upon the return of the vehicle.

Driver’s License

All renters and any additional drivers must hold a valid driver's license for a minimum of two years. Licenses not in the Roman alphabet (e.g., Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic) must be supplemented with an international driver's license. When collecting the vehicle, please provide a valid ID card or passport along with your driver's license.

Rental Period & Grace Period

Rentals are charged daily, including a grace period of up to 179 minutes without extra fees for the final day. However, exceeding this grace period by 1 minute or more will incur an additional day's charge plus any other applicable fees.

Amendments & Modifications

Changes to your reservation can be made up to 24 hours before the rental period. The amendment or modification should be made online or in written form via e-mail to [email protected].

No-show / Late Arrival

In the event the renter did not pick up the reserved vehicle, or if the renter did not pick it up at the agreed time, and if Lesvoscarhire was not informed, extra charges could be applied.

Age Limitations

Minimum hiring age is 21, maximum 79.

• 21 years old with a driving licence held for a minimum 2 years for vehicles in groups B, C, D, F, J
• 25 years old/ with a driving licence held for a minimum 2 years for vehicles in groups LV, M
• Senior driver's fee is not applied if the driver is above 70 years of age.
• Junior driver fee is applied if the driver is 23 years of age or less.

General terms of insurance cover

At vehicle pick up, it is important to choose a type of extra coverage, there are different coverage packages that are tailored to your needs and abilities, from reduced to no excess at all.

CDW - Collision Damage Waiver

Collision Damage Waiver limits the driver’s responsibility for damages done to the vehicle.

• The renter is only responsible for the following amounts of €700 for Groups B, C, D, F, J & €1000 for groups LV & M
• The damage caused to the vehicle will be charged according to the repair price list available in our offices.

TPC - Theft Protection Cover

Theft Protection cover: Reduces theft-related liability to €700 for Groups B, C, D, F, J & €1000 for groups LV & M

• The damage caused to the vehicle will be charged according to the repair price list available in our offices.

TPL - Third Party Liability

Third party liability: covers the renter for damages or injuries caused to other people or property.

PAI - Personal Accident Insurance

Personal accident insurance: renter is covered in cases of disability or death to the amount stated in current insurance regulations and rules.

Excess and accountability during the rental period can be significantly reduced by opting for additional coverage options for drivers aged over 23 & under 69 years old.

FDW - Full Damage Waiver

Full Damage Waiver reduces the damage excess to the following limits:

• The renter is responsible for the following amounts of €0 for Groups B, C, D, F, J €0 for groups LV & M. Charged at a daily rate of €9.95

WUG - Wheels, Underside, Glass

Wheels, underside, Glass reduces the liability to €0 for damage caused to the wheels, including tires, the underside of the vehicle, windscreen, and wing mirrors. Charged at a daily rate of €9.95

SUPER

Reduces the liability to €0 for most vehicles combining FDW & WUG Charged at a daily rate of €14.95

RSA - Roadside Assistance

Roadside assistance, cover includes Towing service, Jump start, flat tire, lockout service. Charged at a daily rate of €4.95

In the event of driver negligence, all insurance coverage becomes null and void. Negligent actions such as reckless driving, driving under the influence, or any violation of the agreed-upon terms and conditions will result in the forfeiture of insurance protection. It is imperative for the driver to adhere strictly to safe and responsible driving practices to ensure the validity of insurance coverage throughout the rental period.

Mechanical Difficulties and Incidents

Engine breakdowns: the renter is obliged to immediately contact 'Lesvos Car Hire' at Tel: +306970673954. In case of a traffic accident, theft or similar the renter is obliged to promptly inform both 'Lesvos Car Hire' and the local police; obtaining a police report is mandatory before moving the vehicle. Failure to do so will result in the invalidation of any insurance claims and may lead to legal consequences, including potential liability for damages.

Roadside Assistance

In case of a breakdown, the rental company will coordinate towing services to the nearest repair facility. If the car's battery is dead, assistance includes jump-starting the vehicle. For a flat tire, we provide tire change support or repairs. In the event of running out of fuel, the rental company may deliver a small amount of fuel to the stranded vehicle.

Please note that charges apply for these services, and these charges are subject to change without notice.

Delivery & Collection

Delivery & Collection appointments must be arranged during the reservation process and cannot be changed without notice. Delivery & collection fees apply for the following destinations: Sigri, Eressos, Vatera, Plomari & the surrounding areas.

Meet & Greet Service

At the airport or ports of Mytilene, Sigri, Petra, or Plomari, a member of our team will be waiting for you at the arrival point, please look for the sign with your name on it. Where you have arranged delivery to your accommodation a member of our team will be waiting for you at the reception.

Vehicle drop-off: a member of our team will be waiting for you at the reception for returns at your accommodation & at the designated drop off point at the airport or ports, details will be given you at the time of delivery.

Working Hours

Our offices are open from 08:00 – 22:00. An additional fee may be charged for reservations or returns outside of working hours at a rate of €40 per rental.

One-Way Rentals

For the service of one-way vehicle rentals, the following fees are applied:

• From airport, port & downtown Mytilene to Sigri, Eressos, Vatera and the surrounding area - €80.00
• From airport, port & downtown Mytilene to Anaxos, Petra, Molivos and the surrounding area - €60.00
• From airport, port & downtown Mytilene to Kalloni, Plomari and the surrounding area - €60.00
• From Sigri, Eressos, Vatera and the surrounding area to airport, port & downtown Mytilene - €80.00
• From Anaxos, Petra, Molivos and the surrounding area to airport, port & downtown Mytilene - €60.00
• From Kalloni, Plomari and the surrounding area to airport, port & downtown Mytilene - €60.00

All other one-way rentals are not allowed. In case of a drop-off at any location without prior permission, additional fees will be charged.

Additional Equipment

In Greece, the use of child seats is mandatory for children up to the age of 12 years. Specifically, children under 3 years must be placed in a child restraint appropriate for their size when traveling by car. For children aged between 3-11 years and under 135cm in height, an appropriate child seat must be used.

Choose the seat that best fits child's age:

• Baby seat (0-18 kg) – €30.00 per rental
• Child seat (15-36 kg) - €30.00 per rental
• Booster seat (children height up to 135 cm) - €30.00 per rental

Baby & child seats are on request and not guaranteed. Renters should confirm the age & kilos for each requested child, baby, or booster seat at the time of booking.

Car Capacity and Vehicle Type

All vehicles are insured for a maximum number of passengers. 'Lesvos Car Hire' cannot accept liability if the vehicle is unsuitable for all passengers and luggage.

Provision of Cars

'Lesvos Car Hire' reserves the right to deny a vehicle to individuals considered unfit to drive or not meeting eligibility requirements. Moreover, we maintain the right to reclaim the vehicle without notice at any time.

Driving Areas

Driving is permitted within the borders of the Island of Lesvos. Off-road driving or unmade roads are not allowed.

Fuel

Vehicles are supplied usually with 1/2 tank of fuel (unleaded or diesel); All vehicles need to be returned at the same fuel level as it was when delivered. Refuelling charges apply if not returned at the same level. €20.00 is charged for every ¼ tank missing for most groups.

Additional Driver

Each rental may have 1 additional driver per vehicle charged at a rate of €20.00 per rental. Additional drivers must present a full and valid drivers’ licence at time of booking. Additional drivers must be between 21- 79 years. With a valid licence held for a minimum of 2 years.

Fines and Penalties

Renters are accountable for addressing any parking fines or penalties accrued during the rental duration. Prompt payment of these charges is essential before concluding the rental agreement, ensuring adherence to local traffic regulations, and averting potential consequences. If the renter receives a traffic or parking fine during his rental period which hasn’t been paid by the end of the rental period, the charge of an additional €40.00 will be applied.

Administration fee

Renters without our additional insurance cover and who plan to claim from an external insurer, we will provide necessary documentation to aid your claim process. Please be aware, a €30.00 administrative fee will be charged for this service.

Lost key

If the renter loses, breaks, or damages the vehicle key, a minimum cost of €80 will be incurred, potentially increasing based on the specific model of the vehicle involved.

Lost registration plates or vehicle documentation

If during the rental period the vehicle registration plates or documents are lost, stolen or damaged, a fee of €250.00 will be charged for most vehicles.

Vehicle Cleaning

If the vehicle requires a special cleaning procedure after dropping off to remove odour or odours, animal hair or fur, spillage of liquids or food stuff, a minimum fee of €80 will be charged.

No Smoking policy

Smoking is strictly prohibited. Please be respectful for the next renter, we ask you and your passengers not to smoke in our vehicles. The fine for smoking in a vehicle is €80.00 plus the cost of special cleaning to remove the odour.

Responsibilities Excluded from Lesvos Car Hire's Coverage.

Lesvos Car Hire does not cover the following costs under any circumstances, including additional coverage options: loss or theft of personal items from the vehicle; parking and traffic fines; expenses arising from using the wrong fuel; costs related to lost, stolen, or damaged car keys or documents; charges due to negligence such as an empty battery; damage to the vehicle's interior or additional equipment; misuse of the car; ignoring maintenance instructions; driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; extraction of the vehicle from inaccessible areas; using dirt roads; participation in racing or sports events; overloading the vehicle; damages incurred by unauthorized drivers; and any expenses arising from not adhering to vehicle operation guidelines including the theft of or damage to windscreen wipers, locks, and external parts without a police report, as well as misuse of roof carriers and ignoring vehicle dashboard warning signs & sounds are not covered.

Cancellations, curtailment & refunds

Cancellation: We recognize that circumstances can shift unexpectedly. Therefore, we provide a flexible cancellation policy:

• Free Cancellation: You have the liberty to cancel your booking at no cost up to 24hrs before your scheduled rental start date and time.
• Late Cancellation: Should you need to cancel within 24hrs of the rental start date and time, a cancellation fee will be incurred. This fee encompasses the cost of the first day’s rental along with any applicable administration charges. We are committed to maintaining fairness and transparency in these fees, reflecting only the costs we bear.

Curtailment (Early Return): In the event of returning the vehicle earlier than planned:

• Refunds for Unused Days: We will promptly refund the cost of any full, unused rental days, after deducting a 24% VAT and any other relevant fees. Our objective is to process such refunds expeditiously, ensuring minimal inconvenience to you.

General Conditions:

• Refund Processing: All refunds will be processed back to the original payment method used during the booking process. Please allow for standard processing times, which may vary depending on your bank or payment provider.
• Administration Fees: Any applicable administration fees will be clearly communicated at the time of cancellation or curtailment. These fees are intended to cover the administrative costs associated with changes to your booking.

We aim to uphold transparency and fairness throughout our cancellation, curtailment, and refund policies.

Your Hire and External Factors

When you rent a car with 'Lesvos Car Hire,' you're agreeing to our specific terms, conditions, and the laws of Greece. Please understand that there are external factors, like weather or traffic, that can affect your rental experience. These are beyond our control, and 'Lesvos Car Hire' cannot be held liable for any disruptions they may cause. We're here to ensure your rental goes as smoothly as possible within our scope of services​.

Traffic Law Violations

Traffic law violations are subject to strict penalties, including fines and driving bans. Speeding violations, for instance, carry fines ranging from €40 for exceeding the limit by up to 20 km/h to €350 for more severe infractions, with possible driving bans. Other offenses, such as driving under the influence of alcohol, not only attract hefty fines but can also lead to criminal charges. It's crucial for drivers to adhere to the rules to avoid these penalties.

Dispute Resolution

In the event of any disputes arising from or related to this agreement, both parties agree to seek resolution through mutual negotiation. Should these efforts not result in a resolution, the dispute will be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of S.T.E.E.A., with the decision of the arbitrator being final and binding upon both parties.
